How to Play Empty
PostSubject: How to Play   How to Play Icon_minitimeWed Apr 29, 2009 4:25 am

First things are first.

Each player will need a starting character. This character starts at first level. I might change this later to third, but it depends how the game plays. Choosing different Characters as your starting character will change how the game plays drastically. Different characters are good at different things. Some are more fighty, while others are more spell-castery. You can also have other Characters in your deck to bring them into play later. Each character you bring out this way, starts at first level.

Each player also has three Location cards. Each player places one in front of themselves, that will be your Starting Location for your character. You each cut the opponent's deck, and you compare the cost of the card on the bottom, adding MP cost, and Gold cost together. The highest converted cost gets to place their terrain first. Players take turns placing Locations wherever they please as long as they coincide with the basic Location layout. Players take their turns in a clockwise pattern. The player to the left of the one who ends their turn, goes next.

Turns progress in the following order:

Taxes: You receive gold from your Locations, depending on the Tax stat on each Location card, plus the bonus from Merchant NPCs, and other things which also happen to be on your Location. You also replenish MP equal to your SPI stat.

Upkeep: Paying continual costs for things, such as certain Characters, or NPCs, or even Locations.

Draw: Draw one card to your hand.

Recruitment: This is a phase usually refered to as 'Main Phase', by other card games. You recruit new characters, monsters, NPCs, buy equipment, etc. during this phase.

Move: You move a character from one place, to another. You are unable to move a character in the first turn.

Combat: If you move a character to a Location where another Character/Monster/Summon/Etc. occupies this Location, you must defeat it before you can acquire the Location. Combat will be a turn based between each Character taking place in combat. Each character involved in combat can only use 1 action, which are things such as 'attack', 'cast spell', 'use item', 'use ability'. This goes on, until the only characters left standing in combat are controlled by one player.

Deployment: Same as Recruitment, only it is after combat!

Discard: if you have over seven cards in your hand, you discard down to seven.
